Digitisation of our cultural heritage
Senator Kate Lundy recently gave a speech at the “HASS on the Hill” conference as part of a session on Accessing Australia: the challenges of digitisation.
The speech highlights the important role that the digital medium is, and will, play in opening up access to much of Australia’s cultural collections. Senator Lundy highlights some success stories from National collecting institutions, the role of the NBN, educational opportunities, economical benefits, collection policy, as well as the challenges to achieving digital access.
It’s worth a read.
